Frequently asked
The questions people ask before sending their first cold email.
Is cold email illegal?
+
Cold email is legal in most countries when sent business-to-business with a clear sender identity, a real business reason, and an opt-out mechanism. Under CAN-SPAM (US), GDPR (EU), and CASL (Canada), you must include an accurate from-name, a physical mailing address, and an unsubscribe link. The course covers the practical compliance setup you need before sending.
How many cold emails can I send per day per inbox?
+
A warmed-up Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 inbox can safely send 30 to 50 cold emails per day. New inboxes start at 10 to 20 per day during the first 30 days of warmup. Hitting 100+ per day per inbox without proper warmup is the fastest way to burn the domain.
Why are my cold emails going to spam?
+
The top three reasons: missing or misconfigured DNS records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), an unwarmed sending domain or inbox, and spam-trigger language in the subject line or body. Module 2 of the course walks through the technical setup and Module 5 covers the copywriting fixes.
What is a good cold email open rate?
+
Sixty to seventy-five percent is the realistic ceiling for a well-targeted cold email campaign with verified contacts and a strong subject line. Anything below 30% suggests deliverability or list-quality issues, not copywriting. Apple Mail Privacy Protection inflates open rates, so reply rate is the better metric.
How many follow-ups should a cold email sequence have?
+
Three to five follow-ups is the sweet spot for B2B. The first follow-up doubles your reply rate. Five plus follow-ups start triggering complaint flags. Module 6 of the course shows the exact cadence and timing that maximizes replies without burning sender reputation.
Do I need a separate domain for cold email?
+
Yes. Send cold email from a domain that mirrors your main brand but is not your main domain (e.g. trybrand.com instead of brand.com). This isolates deliverability risk so a bad cold email campaign never affects your transactional or marketing email on your primary domain.
