SMTP and IMAP settings by provider
The SMTP and IMAP servers, ports and passwords to connect Gmail, Hostinger, Titan, Namecheap, GoDaddy, Zoho, IONOS, DreamHost, Yahoo or any other mailbox to FoxReach.
FoxReach connects to your own mailbox and sends from it. It logs in over SMTP to send and over IMAP to read replies and bounces, with the same email address and password for both. This page lists what each provider needs. In the app, click your provider's card and FoxReach fills in the servers for you, so most people only need the password step below.

Settings at a glance#
| Provider | SMTP server | IMAP server | Password to use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gmail and Google Workspace | smtp.gmail.com | imap.gmail.com | App password, or Sign in with Google |
| Hostinger | smtp.hostinger.com | imap.hostinger.com | Mailbox password (app password with 2FA) |
| Titan | smtp.titan.email | imap.titan.email | Mailbox password |
| Namecheap Private Email | mail.privateemail.com | mail.privateemail.com | App password |
| GoDaddy Workspace Email | smtpout.secureserver.net | imap.secureserver.net | Mailbox password |
| Zoho Mail, paid plan | smtppro.zoho.com | imappro.zoho.com | Password (app password with 2FA) |
| Zoho Mail, free or personal | smtp.zoho.com | imap.zoho.com | Password (app password with 2FA) |
| IONOS (US) | smtp.ionos.com | imap.ionos.com | Mailbox password |
| DreamHost | smtp.dreamhost.com | imap.dreamhost.com | Mailbox password |
| Yahoo Mail | smtp.mail.yahoo.com | imap.mail.yahoo.com | App password |
Every row uses port 587 with STARTTLS for SMTP and port 993 with SSL/TLS for IMAP. The username is always your full email address. FoxReach uses it for the login automatically, so there is no separate username field.
How to connect#
- In the sidebar, click Email Accounts, then Connect Account.
- Click your provider's card. Follow the numbered steps on the card to get the right password. The server settings are already filled in.
- Enter your full email address and the password, then click Test Connection.
- When SMTP and IMAP both say Connected, click Connect Account.
The rest of the form, including the daily limit and signature, is explained in connect an email account.
Provider steps#
Gmail and Google Workspace#
The quickest way is Sign in with Google at the top of the dialog, which needs no password. To use a password instead:
- Turn on 2-Step Verification for the Google account.
- Create an app password at myaccount.google.com/apppasswords. On a Workspace mailbox, your admin may need to allow this first.
- Paste the 16 characters into FoxReach. Your normal Google password will not work.
Google explains this in its app password guide. FoxReach caps Google mailboxes at 50 campaign emails per day.
Microsoft 365 and Outlook#
A Microsoft mailbox cannot connect to FoxReach today. Microsoft has turned off password and app password logins for IMAP, and FoxReach needs IMAP to read your replies. The Microsoft server offers only its own sign-in, so a connection test cannot pass whichever password you enter.
If you bought your email through GoDaddy or another reseller and it is really Microsoft 365, the same applies.
Hostinger#
- Use your full email address and the password for that mailbox, not your Hostinger login. You can reset it in hPanel under Emails.
- If the mailbox has 2FA on, create an app password in Hostinger and use that instead.
Hostinger lists these settings on the Connect apps & devices page in hPanel, and in its configuration guide. Hostinger's guide shows port 465 first. Use 587, which it lists as the alternative.
Titan#
Use your full email address and your mailbox password. Some hosting companies give you a numbered server such as smtp0101.titan.email. If yours did, pick the Titan card, open Override Server Settings and enter that server.
Titan is also the email behind GoDaddy's Professional Email and some Hostinger plans. If that is what you have, this is the card to use.
Namecheap Private Email#
- In Private Email Settings, turn on access under Connect third-party apps.
- Create an app password for the mailbox.
- Paste it into FoxReach with your full email address.
Both the SMTP and IMAP server are mail.privateemail.com. Namecheap's configuration article has the details.
GoDaddy#
These settings are for GoDaddy Workspace Email. Use your full email address and mailbox password, not your GoDaddy account login.
GoDaddy sells other email products too, so check which one you have:
- Professional Email runs on Titan. Pick the Titan card.
- Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy is a Microsoft mailbox, which cannot connect today. See Microsoft 365 and Outlook.
Zoho Mail#
- In Zoho Mail, go to Settings, then Mail Accounts, and turn on IMAP Access.
- On the Zoho card, pick your plan and region. Paid plans use different servers from free and personal accounts.
- Use your full email address. If 2FA is on, create an application-specific password and use that.
| Plan and region | SMTP server | IMAP server |
|---|---|---|
| Paid plan | smtppro.zoho.com | imappro.zoho.com |
| Free or personal | smtp.zoho.com | imap.zoho.com |
| Paid plan, Europe | smtppro.zoho.eu | imappro.zoho.eu |
| Paid plan, India | smtppro.zoho.in | imappro.zoho.in |
Your region is the address you log in at, such as mail.zoho.eu. If you are unsure, Zoho shows your exact servers inside your account, and its setup guide explains where.
IONOS#
Pick the country your account is in on the IONOS card, then use your full email address and mailbox password.
| Account country | SMTP server | IMAP server |
|---|---|---|
| United States | smtp.ionos.com | imap.ionos.com |
| United Kingdom | smtp.ionos.co.uk | imap.ionos.co.uk |
| Germany | smtp.ionos.de | imap.ionos.de |
IONOS covers these in its server details article.
DreamHost#
Use your full email address and the password you set for the mailbox. You can change it on the Manage Email page in your DreamHost panel. DreamHost recommends port 587 in its email settings article.
Yahoo Mail#
Open Account Security in your Yahoo account, generate an app password and paste it into FoxReach. Your normal Yahoo password will not work.
Any other host#
Pick Custom SMTP and enter the SMTP and IMAP servers from your host's help pages or control panel. Use port 587 for SMTP and 993 for IMAP. Your host needs to meet two conditions:
- It offers both SMTP and IMAP on one mailbox. Sending services such as SendGrid, Mailgun, Amazon SES, Postmark and Brevo have no inbox to read, so they cannot connect.
- Your login is your email address. FoxReach logs in with the full address, so a host that needs a different username cannot connect yet.
On shared hosting such as cPanel, your host may tell you to use mail.yourdomain.com. If the test then reports a certificate problem, ask your host for the server name on its certificate, often something like server123.yourhost.com, and use that instead.
What the test results mean#
When a test fails, FoxReach tells you what went wrong and what to try. These are the common ones.
| The test says | What to do |
|---|---|
| The server rejected this login | Use the password for the mailbox itself, or an app password if your provider requires one. Your hosting account login will not work. |
| Could not find the server | The server name is misspelled. Copy it from your provider. |
| Did not respond on port 465 | Set the SMTP port to 587 and test again. |
| The security certificate does not match | The server name is not the one on the certificate. Ask your host for the right name. |
| Microsoft does not accept password logins | This mailbox cannot connect today. Use a mailbox from another provider. |
Both lines must say Connected before you can add the account, because FoxReach would otherwise never see your replies.
Frequently asked questions#
Why does FoxReach need IMAP as well as SMTP?
SMTP sends your emails. IMAP reads your inbox, which is how FoxReach detects replies and bounces and stops a sequence when someone answers. Without it, FoxReach would keep following up with people who already replied.
Which port should I use?
Port 587 for SMTP and 993 for IMAP. Some providers show port 465 first in their guides. Use 587 in FoxReach, which every provider on this page supports.
Can I connect SendGrid, Mailgun or Amazon SES?
No. These services send email but have no mailbox, so FoxReach cannot read your replies. Connect the mailbox you want replies to reach instead.
Is my password safe?
FoxReach encrypts your password before storing it and uses it only to send from and read that mailbox. An app password is the safer choice where your provider offers one, because you can revoke it without changing your main password.
