# Update Lead Label

> Rename or recolor a lead label.

<Note>
**Beta.** This endpoint is not live in production yet.
</Note>

## Path Parameters

<ParamField path="label_id" type="string" required>
  The label id.
</ParamField>

## Request Body

All fields are optional: `name`, `color`, `meaning`, with the same rules as [Create Lead Label](/api-reference/lead-labels/create-lead-label).

## Response

Returns the updated label in `data`. `404` if the label is not in this workspace, `409` if the new name is taken.

<RequestExample>
```bash cURL
curl -X PATCH "https://api.foxreach.io/api/v1/lead-labels/cll_abc123" \
  -H "X-API-Key: otr_your_key" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"name": "Warm"}'
```
</RequestExample>

<ResponseExample>
```json
{
  "data": { "id": "cll_abc123", "name": "Warm", "color": "success", "meaning": "positive", "createdAt": "2026-11-04T09:00:00+00:00" }
}
```
</ResponseExample>

## Rate Limit

- **120 requests per minute, shared by every `write` call in your workspace.** Fixed 60-second window.
- Every response includes `X-RateLimit-Limit`, `X-RateLimit-Remaining`, `X-RateLimit-Reset` (unix epoch seconds) and `X-RateLimit-Bucket` (`write`).
- A `429` response includes a `Retry-After` header (seconds until the bucket resets).

For client-side patterns, see [Rate Limiting](/rate-limiting).
